Who Will Fill The Goals in the Amsterdam ArenA?

Craig Gordon
<------ or
Alan McGregor? --->

i have to go with Craig Gordon on this one, regardless of his lack of first team opportunities at sunderland recently he is our only genuine world class player. personally i dont have a great deal of love for mcgregor, i think his worth is only seen by scottish media and rangers management team. better than lionel letizi yes, sadly not better than gordon. I feel he is a coward as a goalkeeper the way he protects himself using a straight leg as opposed to a bent knee shows this. Gordon has to play as he has shown his worth in smaller teams, hearts and sunderland and he is still the best player on their team and a real stand out in general, he will surely go on and play for a man u or arsenal or even go abroad and show his worth in other top euro leagues.

every national team needs a decent back up and mcgregor is it. think about francisco toldo, smashing keeper but if its him or gigi buffon then there is only one winner. I use that as a example as i genuinely see gordon in that class.

for mcgregor injury to gordon should be his only inroad.

agreed?

  1. Well, Burley clearly disagrees.

    I don't get the McGregor thing. Decent goalie, but in front of a decent defence (by Scottish standards anyway). I think Neil Alexander is a more solid keeper to be honest, I have never seen Alexander make a mistake, whilst mcGregor had some shonky form at the start of the season.

    In the same breath, he couldn't not pick him in my eyes. Gordon is a brilliant goalkeeper, but is Marton Fulop world class? Of course not. And yet he still can't get in the team. Why? Because he is in on merit. He took his chance with both gloves. McGregor has the merit at the moment as he is in his club team, playing week in and week out.

    Its inconsequential though I feel. If McGregor lets in 4-5, they will say Gordon should have played. If Gordon played, vice versa.

    Also, it always riled me when Leighton got in ahead of Goram.

  2. The genius that is George Burley once claimed Boyd wasn't picked for Scotland because he wasn't a regular with Rangers.How can he then shove in Craig Gordon and probably Alan Hutton who haven't featured for their clubs for months?

    I think both Gordon and Hutton should start but it kinda makes a mockery of Burley's logic if he plays them,eh?The guys a tube.
